Root of Kantakari -Solanum virginianum L. Vol-I belonging to Solanaceae family is an important ingredient of Dashmoola. it is onesuch important medicinal plant which is highly demandable and used in Ayurveda and other Indian Systems of Medicine. The root ofthis plant is a ingerdientof many important formulations viz., dashmoolarishtha, kantakarighrita, Dashmoola ghrita, Kantakaryavleha, Dashmoola pralepa and Dashmoola katutrayakwatha. The demand of the Kantakari is 50-1000 mertic tons year in india. To met the adress gap, it is inperative to encourage the cultivaton of such medicinal planrs. this Council beingan apex body in India for the research & development on scientific lines in Ayuveda,developed agro- technique protocol through scientiic studies.
